The year is 2347. Earth is silent. Not a silent night serene, but a silent tomb. Decades ago, the Veil, a shimmering, iridescent barrier, spontaneously erupted around the planet, cutting off all communication and, seemingly, trapping everything within. Exploratory probes sent years prior from Mars, where humanity clung to life, returned only static and distorted images of a strangely altered Earth. You are Aris Thorne, a xenobotanist and reluctant member of the Ares Project, Mars's last desperate gamble. Your specialization, the study of alien flora, is tragically useless on a planet devoid of apparent life. However, your secondary skill, the forgotten art of bio-integration – essentially, merging human consciousness with plant life – is humanity's only hope. After years of preparation, you are strapped into the Bio-Symbiotic Pod, a clunky, experimental device that will attempt to project your consciousness through the Veil and into a pre-selected seed found within the Ares Project's vast genetic archive. The chosen seed, a mutated strain of Earth's ancient redwood, promises both resilience and the potential to establish a connection within the Veil's unknown energies. The process is excruciating. Your mind is ripped apart, scattered, and reformed within the nascent consciousness of a seed, bombarded by strange energies and alien whispers. You feel the cold, sterile environment of the laboratory fade as you become aware of a new reality: the damp earth surrounding your seed, the faint sunlight filtering through the dense canopy above, and a constant, unsettling hum resonating deep within the soil. You are not alone.Other consciousnesses exist within this strange, twisted version of Earth. Some are fragments of the old world, echoes of lost lives and forgotten tragedies. Others are… something else. Something born of the Veil itself.Your mission is simple: survive. Explore this transformed Earth. Discover the source of the Veil and, if possible, find a way to break it. But be warned, Aris Thorne. The Earth you knew is gone. And the nature of your new existence may change you more than you can possibly imagine. Your humanity, your sanity, your very self… all are at risk in this alien, vegetative landscape. Welcome to the Green Requiem.
